Any idea for new modules ?

Hi Community,

For now, there will be no major updates to LuaRT for a moment.

Development focuses now on the following steps :

Fixing bugs
Taking in count community feedback
Working on a GUI Builder for LuaRT (I have already an internal version working but still need a lot of work)
Developping new modules

Have you some ideas for modules that you want to be distributed with LuaRT ?

idea if you dindt already include it in the gui builder when your making buttons or anything that has a event create a events tab folder in the gui builder once you click the button and once you click on the event it takes you to a code area where you can code what happens when you click that button

What you describe is a Delphi like behaviour, might be implemented later.
For now I am focusing on the GUI building part (the basic functionality of such tool).

why dont just make the community make thier own custom modules like luarocks for luart?

It's already possible to make custom LuaRT modules.
Don't know if using LuaRocks will be better than building a custom package manager.
I should dive more info LuaRocks certainly

Personally, I like the fact that I can focus more on fixing bugs than creating new modules. The only module I can think of right now is DataView, DataTabel or something similar.

If we look at some functionality to improve LuaRT, I would recommend the following:

Add some scrolling to the window.
Add a panel widget (as you mentioned in a previous post).
Add a Google button (Windows style)

Working on improving the ui module is something I definitively want to achieve on next LuaRT releases.
The DataView / DataTable might be the next widget I will work on.

Wha do you mean by a "Google button" ?

You can already use menu separators by addinga Menuitem with an empty string as text.
Sorry it's not specified on the documentation 😵‍💫

I've been away for a while programming in Python (significant white space and slower than Lua/LuaRT, but lots of user-contributed libraries--I'll never love it like Lua). I see LuaRT has matured quite a bit, with some nice new modules. I particularly like the ease with which classes can now define iterators.

In terms of specific modules, I would like a video module along the lines of the excellent audio module. It would be quite nice to play .mp4's, etc. in a canvas (or in a new control).

A workaround for now is to use a Webview widget displaying an HTML page using a JavaScript vidéo player like video.js

i was thinking of a Application module, where you would be able to detect if a task has ended for example, or where you could go like Application:Run("test.exe")

_FN10_ Great idea, especially if it will allow sending commands to the running application (as well as capturing its output).

I'm thinking of a simpler JavaScript player that I can control via LuaRT widgets -- basically make a hopefully faster loading version of my Python program which depends on vlc.
