Hi Community,

LuaRT 2.0 is now feature complete. I am currently updating the documentation. Expect a release in the next weeks.

The main highlight of this release will be the ability to link modules with your statically compiled executables.

This is a huge step for LuaRT : you will be able to use all LuaRT modules without the need to have the lua54.dll file alongside your compiled executable.

This feature will preserve the small executable file size that defines LuaRT philosophy.

If you have any suggestions/idea for next LuaRT releases, let’s discuss it in this thread !

Great! What about other custom DLLs? Do you plan to support their integration in the EXE or is there any technical constraint to achieve this?

For others DLL it will just require a simple recompilation of the DLL using the provided lua54-static.lib instead of lua54.lib

This is for "Lua"-compatible DLLs (based on Lua standard "PUC-Rio" API) I suppose.
But what about any generic DLL that is intended to be directly used using LuaRT C FFI API?

Yes that's it.
For third party DLL you can embed them in your executable and use C.Library() to load it seamlessly (you can already do that since LuaRT 1.9.5)
