LuaRT 1.7.0 pre-launch event

Dear LuaRT Community,

I am excited to invite you to the pre-launch event of LuaRT 1.7.0, the latest version of the free and open source Windows programming framework for Lua.

The event will take place on Friday, January 4th, 2024, at 4 pm CET, on the LuaRT Community Discord server.
You will be able to discuss upcoming changes to LuaRT, to talk about RTBuilder, and chat with other Lua fans.
There will also be a live "changelog" session, to preview upcoming changes.

I hope to see you at this pre-launch event of LuaRT 1.7.0, the ultimate Windows programming framework for Lua!

Thanks to everyone who was able to participate in the pre-release event for the release of LuaRT 1.7.0!

In addition to the upcoming changes to LuaRT, we discussed the future of LuaRT in the following areas:

Whether or not to maintain the development of LuaRT Studio: this subject will be the subject of a poll on this forum
The need to develop an extension for Visual Studio Code compatible with LuaRT
Regarding the modules that could be developed next: An image processing module seems to be the chosen option, ahead of a PDF generation module and a better compression module (with support for several archive formats)

Would it not be better to use the OpenCV library for image processing? Similar to sqlite module

LuaRT Studio is nice but I still observe random crashes sometimes. Disabling auto-complete seems to apparently reduce the frequency of such crashes. I read somewhere that it could be an old bug from ZeroBrane. Anyway, this issue must be solved to let LuaRT Studio reliable enough for serious work.
On the other hand, I do not like VS Code but in case of a plugin comparable to LuaRT STudio as features and usablity I could accept it.

Yes this is an old weird bug from ZeroBrane.
To be honest, ZeroBrane is old, a big fat and is a pain to maintain.

It uses the big wxWidgets library too which causes some artefacts with LuaRT ui programs

LuaRT Studio will always be bundled with LuaRT, especially for LuaRT beginners for which it seems well adapted, even if its development is stopped.

OpenCV is a big library, not very similar to sqlite.
I was thinking about CImg, or Simd, more lightweight but still powerfull
