What is the difference between
LuaRT 32/64, they create different exe when compiled, if so, can you find out the differences?
Is the performance of a Lua script compiled with LuaRT in exe comparable to luajit?

Hi sseand,

There is no difference between x32/x64 versions of LuaRT.

x64 version means that LuaRT is compiled for latest processors that have 64 bits instructions and a wide range of memory available. It needs a 64 bits version of Windows.

x32 is available for compatibility with old CPU and 32 bits Windows version, but can be run on 64 bits platform too.

If you don't know which one to use, and you have a recent computer (from the last 5 years), you should use LuaRT x64.

I was asking if the resulting exe is optimized for new processors (assembler instructions) or is the difference simply in the LuaRT 64 bits themselves, will it simply compile faster?

64 bits instructions set is generally faster (but latest instructions set such as AVX2 is not used anymore as many users were complaining that LuaRT crashed).

I have not benchmarked LuaRT vs LuaJIT but it might be faster than standard Lua as it uses more agressive compilation options.

Doesn't your project in the past originate from there?
As far as I understand, the LuaRT rtc compiler compiles the script into byte code and then creates an exe based on the bycode?

I know this project but LuaRT don't Come from it.
LuaRT was created to give Lua users a compréhensive ecosystem like python to focus on Lua programming rather on fighting with librairies, compilers, to try to achieve what we want, espaecially on Windows (most Lua librairies focus on Linux support)

What does ecosystem mean? Do you have plans to create cross-platform applications in the future? Valid for Windows and Android using one common code? That would be great!

It’s a pity, of course, that there’s no Lua there.... And the application for Windows takes a bunch of files with it, but transferring code between several platforms is great..

for enthusiasts it’s alive, there is an opportunity to use Lua 5.1 (the component is not on the official website) a very interesting thing to throw cubes into a client server application in minutes... there are many initiatives but abandoned although there is a lot of potential.

For now LuaRT is very Windows-dependent, but providing Linux portability is something I'm thinking of, but not for now.

Is socket supported? I need to organize interaction with an external local program. Can you tell me how to do this more correctly?

Yes network progamming is available with the net module.
You can use the net.Socket object to make a connection and send/recv data.

The net.Socket object can use blocking/synchronous calls or non-blocking/asynchronous using Task objects.
